Welcome to Positive Wednesday Thought. I have decided that on Wednesdays I will find a positive thing that have happened during the week so far and appreciate it a little more. Our lives can be full of joy and wonder when we take time throughout the day to appreciate a small thing. Sometimes the smallest things can change our world.
A Bunny
A week ago, my mother had gone to Kirkland's to go buy things to decorate the house. Decorating for the various holidays is an activity my mother loves to do. Every year I take pictures of her house during Easter because of all the bunnies. This year, on my way home from work, she texted me and asked me to stop by the house prior to going home. Since I live about a mile from my parents, it was easy enough to do.
I let her know I was outside when I arrived and she brought out a present she wanted me to open. I smiled and opened it. It was a bunny to use in decorating my house. I was really excited. It was big enough to put in front of the bay window and still be seen with all the plants. As I woke up this morning, I saw the bunny staring out the window. I smiled remember how much joy the bunny brought to my mom and to me. The small act of thinking about my mom, and how she thought about me is what makes me smile and feel loved.
Small acts of caring are not hard. They just require yourself to take a moment and focus on things around you instead of what's going on in your head. By focusing on others, we can step away from our selfish minds and focus on bringing joy and happiness to others.
How Long?
So the next question has to be, how long will you keep the bunny at the bay window? I am a firm believer that decorations for specific holidays do not have to be put up or away because the season has ended. My mother is different, she believes every holiday has it's month and that is why none of the decorations just stay out. Because this is one of my first decorations, it is staying out all the time. A bunny with a pink flower is perfect for any season. I can add a ribbon bow to one of it's ears to represent the color for the holiday. That way, the bunny fits the season.
Every day, the individuals in my life show me they love me. Some it's with a text, others its a hug. No matter what the caring language is, it is not only good for the individual receiving but also for the one giving. I try hard everyday to show everyone I care. I am not perfect but as long as I try, I will always eventually end up succeeding. And that in itself is something positive to look forward to this Wednesday.
